All Penn State Behrend students are assigned an academic adviser who is either a faculty member or a professional academic adviser in the college's advising center to assist you in planning courses to take for your major, to discuss your academic goals and to assist you in all your academic endeavors.
Adult students are assigned an adviser based on their admission type. Provisional students are typically adults and are assigned to Biddy Brooks in the Center for Adult Students. As a staff member of the college's advising center she is prepared to assist any adult learner with their academic questions as well as provide non-academic guidance.
Adult students who enroll as first-year or transfer students are assigned a faculty adviser based on their anticipated major. The faculty advisor meets with students primarily to assist with course scheduling and academic guidance but will also discuss other issues as needed. If you have not been assigned an adviser, see the staff assistant in the school that offers the major in which you are interested or contact the Division of Undergraduate Studies.
In addition to your faculty adviser, any adult student is welcome to see the adult learner advisor, Biddy Brooks, Erie Hall, Room 20, 814-898-6700. Evening appointments are available.
Advisor information, along with your student records, can be obtained electronically through eLion, an online, interactive tool that is designed to supplement student-advisor relationships and engage students in interactive, informed educational planning.
Penn State Behrend offers priority (early) scheduling each semester for adult students. Students must meet with their adviser prior to submitting the course registration information to the Center for Adult Students during the priority registration days.
