There is currently a shortage of students--particularly females--who pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers and there are great opportunities for graduates in these fields. Penn State Behrend, in conjunction with the National Science Foundation (NSF), has created a scholarship program for selected students with demonstrated financial need who plan to major in STEM fields.
A number of scholarships are available for female students pursuing a variety of fields.
Minority College Experience and Women in Science and Engineering (MCE/WISE)
Minority College Experience and Women In Science and Engineering are FREE summer programs specifically designed for academically talented high school students in the Erie area. Local students who qualify enroll in a university credit course with regularly enrolled college students the summer before their senior year in high school.
Women in Engineering
Women in Engineering (WIE) is an outreach program for 10th and 11th grade girls held every year on the Friday before Thanksgiving. Our primary goal is to introduce girls to what an engineer does, what kinds of engineering careers are available, and explain how engineers help the world in general.
