A major in Communication at Penn State Behrend helps prepare students for careers in corporate communication, print and broadcast journalism, advertising, public relations, and media production. Students develop written and oral communication skills from both theoretical and practical perspectives and gain valuable technological skills and hands-on experience.
Students can develop videography, video editing, and visual composition skills in state-of-the-art digital editing suites, and get hands-on experience in television and radio broadcasting and production in our on-campus studios. They can also apply what they learn in the classroom as a writer, editor, or photographer for The Behrend Beacon, the college’s weekly student newspaper.
In addition to diverse coursework, the communication major offers students internships with local corporations, media outlets, advertising agencies, and non-profit organizations.
