Dillon joins the college from Penn State’s University Park Campus, where he was deputy division head for the Applied Research Lab’s Composite Materials Division. Prior to working at the ARL he was principal engineer for advanced development at Northrop Grumman in Bethpage, N.Y, senior development engineer at Lawrie Technology in Girard, and assistant director of the Composites Manufacturing Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dillon earned bachelor and doctoral degrees in materials engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland. He is the author of over 30 publications and co-author of two books, and holds five patents.
A member of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) and the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Dillon also will be an associate professor in the School of Engineering.
