The Computer Center provides a variety of support services to students, faculty, and staff.
For example, student computer consultants are available to help students in the public computer labs. The consultants can provide general assistance with the Center's hardware and software.
Computer Center staff support faculty and staff needs including the recommendation, installation, and repair of office hardware and software; establishing a connection to the Penn State backbone (for access to the Internet); assisting with classroom technology needs; and providing general software training.
Most types of assistance require that you complete the online IT Support Request form. The online form is the preferred method of requesting assistance.
Faculty and Staff: If you cannot complete the online form because you don’t have access to the Internet or it’s an emergency situation, then call 898-6018. Once the request is received, it is assigned to the appropriate staff member. Requests are completed based upon priority and the order in which it was received.
Student computer consultants are on duty during the scheduled hours of operation in the Computer Center. The consultants will be wearing a name tag and are stationed at help desks near the Hammermill, Library, and Burke computer labs.
The consultants are available to help students in the public computer labs with general questions relating to computer hardware, software, or programming. In addition, they distribute and collect documentation and accessories that are signed out by users. Consultants also provide PC troubleshooting and support (including formatting the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system) for off-campus students.
The student consultants can also provide help over the phone. The phone numbers and locations for the student consultant help desks are:
In addition, you may send an email to bditHELP@psu.edu or complete the IT Support Request form to request help with computer problems (such as general technical assistance, residence hall connection support, dial-up modem support, etc.).
