Experience: More than five years working in the food industry, five years cooking for my family and five years teaching human biology including human nutrition. Hobbies include spending time with family, camping, reading and looking for new healthy recipes to cook.
Why I teach for College for Kids: “I would like to teach a course called “Cooking with Color,” which would teach kids how to “hide” vegetables in their food. I will focus mostly on snack foods and desserts because they are easier to cook.”

Why I teach at College for Kids: “College for Kids provides children unique ways to continue the learning process, and I would love to bring the new creative movement art form of hoop dance to enrich the student’s summer experience.”

Why I teach at College for Kids: “Visual Arts allows students the opportunity to explore and experience the world around them via hands on creation. I feel compelled to pass on to the students that which I have learned… the power to create.”

Experience: Teacher in Erie School District, College for Kids instructor since 2011, Strong Vincent Volleyball Coach, Harding Middle School Volleyball Coach. I enjoy playing in soccer and volleyball leagues, and I run every day for fun!
Why I teach at College for Kids: “As a teacher, I have my summers off. With that in mind, it is nice to get back into the groove and practice my teaching techniques during the summer time. This will be my third summer working for CFK, and I enjoy every year!”

Why I teach at College for Kids: “While I substitute teach, I often find myself wondering why creativity and imagination are not embraced by today’s education system. Worksheets, lectures, flashcards -- just simple, mental, regurgitation. There is no perspective in those forms of practice. Hands on activities give kids a deeper understanding of their world. When I was young I had a slew of not-so-good teachers, but it was the good ones that kept me on the right track. I would like to be one of those good teachers. There is an extraordinary world out there that is worth exploring, and College for Kids is the perfect platform for exploration.”

Experience: Field Team Leader for the Northwest Pennsylvania K9 search and Rescue Team. Helped teach and mentor students at UCF. Currently a software engineer at Penn State working closely with the Psychology Department.
Why I teach at College for Kids: "I like to take complicated tasks, such as writing computer code or developing a game, and breaking it down into it's smaller components which everyone can understand and use. I enjoy providing a hands on approach in order for kids to learn by doing and not only by listening."
