The Psychology program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applications for two faculty positions in clinical or counseling psychology, beginning fall 2013. Candidates who are licensed or license-eligible in Pennsylvania are preferred. Faculty will have the opportunity to be involved in the development and implementation of an anticipated M.A. program. Job #38010 Open Rank Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Qualified candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor depending on the level of their qualifications (Ph.D. or Psy.D. required; A.B.D.s considered at the assistant professor level). The successful candidate will teach clinical and counseling psychology courses in his or her area of interest and supervise practicum and thesis work. Both high-quality teaching and an active program of scholarship are expected. Experience securing external funding is encouraged. Research area is open; however, our program is developing a focus on cognitive behavioral treatments for victims of trauma. This may include research and treatment related to resilience and recovery from traumatic experiences of abuse (sexual, physical, and emotional), natural disasters, or war.
Job #38011 Lecturer in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. The position is for a full-time, non-tenure track, lecturer in clinical or counseling psychology to begin fall of 2013 with an initial three-year contract with renewal depending upon need and budgetary considerations. Responsibilities include supervising/coordinating an undergraduate psychology internship program and teaching undergraduate-level clinical and counseling psychology courses. Research and scholarship are encouraged. Master’s degree required; doctorate is preferred. Experience in teaching or supervising graduate students, or graduate curriculum development, is welcome but not required.
The Psychology program has recently renovated laboratory space including a sound-attenuating chamber, individual testing rooms, small group rooms, and observation rooms. Technology and library resources are excellent. Other resources include an on-campus child care center, an applied research and outreach center – Susan Hirt Hagen CORE (Center for Community, Outreach, Research and Evaluation), and affiliation with the Ophelia Project. Funds are also available for faculty professional development.

Assistant Professor of Art History
Art History, Modern and/or Contemporary Art/Arts Management. Penn State Behrend is seeking a tenure-track art historian beginning August 2013. Teaching experience, demonstrated research potential, and significant arts management experience are essential requirements for the position. Duties will include teaching courses in Arts Administration, a new major at Penn State Behrend. Responsibilities will also include teaching the second half of the art history survey and courses in Modern Art/Contemporary Art. The ideal candidate will be able to offer an occasional survey in an area of non-western art. The successful hire will have a leadership role in promoting and expanding the Arts Administration major. A.B.D. required; Ph.D. preferred.

The Communication program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, seeks a teacher-scholar-artist/practitioner colleague beginning August 2013 who can teach courses in the following areas: film, video, and new-multimedia writing and production; film and cinema arts; mass media and society and/or media effects. The individual will also have the opportunity to provide leadership in the development of new programming in digital arts, media, and technology for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
This is a fixed-term appointment with the initial contract for 3 years with renewal depending upon need and budgetary considerations. In addition to teaching, this position is also responsible for coordinating and maintaining the lab facilities of the communication department which support coursework in graphic design, film video, and multimedia writing and production, print and broadcast journalism.
The ideal candidate will have a record of excellent college teaching, scholarly, and/or professional experience. A Master’s in an appropriate area related to the described teaching and scholarly responsibilities is required; M.F.A. or Ph.D. preferred.

Candidates must have a record of, or potential for, research and scholarly publications; relevant teaching experience in early childhood settings; evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching and advising including the use of modern technology; and evidence of a commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Desired qualifications include experience working with practicing teachers; teaching or research interest pertaining to diverse populations/settings; experience in applications of technology in teaching and learning; and experience with funded projects or record of external funding commensurate with experience.
