Tenure Track Computer Science Faculty Position

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position starting fall 2015. We are seeking applications from candidates with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and research scholarship. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field, with the ability to teach Computer Science and Software Engineering courses as well as develop a program of research. Preferred areas of research experience include, but are not limited to, requirements engineering, software quality and maintenance, programming languages, human-computer interaction, and mobile computing. Candidates with prior teaching experience or relevant industry experiences are preferred. Salary is competitive and rank is commensurate with experience.

Mechanical Engineering Faculty Position:  Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applicants for a Mechanical Engineering tenure track faculty position starting Fall 2015 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for higher rank.  Candidates should be committed to a balance between excellence in undergraduate education and an active research program. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas: system dynamics and controls, measurements and instrumentation, manufacturing, and biomechanics. Preference will be given to candidates with research expertise in one or more of these areas: mechatronics, manufacturing systems (emphasis on additive manufacturing), and biomechanics/biomanufacturing. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, is required.

Mechanical Engineering Non-tenure Track Faculty Position

Penn State Erie invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Faculty Position in Mechanical Engineering at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor to begin August 2015. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic faculty member in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on undergraduate teaching. The area of specialization is open but candidates with a background in either mechanics or thermal systems are especially encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate interest in and ability to innovate and adopt various teaching methods in the classroom and labs, advise senior design projects, and to engage undergraduate students in applied research. Candidates should demonstrate the potential for outstanding teaching, a commitment to advising and service, and interest in applied research. Applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented on engineering faculties are encouraged to apply.  Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and those with prior teaching & research experience are preferred.

Plastics Engineering Technology Tenure Track Faculty Position

Plastics Engineering Technology Faculty Position: Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applicants for a tenure track faculty position starting fall 2015. Qualified candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. Candidates should be committed to undergraduate education and to developing a sustainable applied research program. Technical areas of interest for the position include plastics manufacturing (including tooling and design), polymer process simulation, process-based polymer rheology, mechanical and thermal analysis, characterization, formulation, and development, and micro-molding. A Ph.D. in plastics, polymer, mechanical, materials, chemical engineering, or related field is required and a minimum of two years of industry experience is preferred.

The School of Engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has a need for part-time Instructors in engineering disciplines for fall (August) and spring (January). The 10 positions are dependent upon class enrollments; enrollments of less than 9 students may necessitate cancelling the class and position. Salary is competitive. Responsibilities include using a syllabus and course materials approved by the School of Engineering to teach courses offered in our baccalaureate programs. Required qualifications include evidence of an earned Master of Science degree in an engineering discipline or a baccalaureate degree with significant industrial experience; evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching including use of current technology; evidence of a commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds, commensurate with experience.
