Biography

Dr. Valerie Cook joined Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Technology department in Fall 2010. She received her undergraduate engineering degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1985 then pursued the MBA in Operations Research, graduating in 1993 from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. She went on to receive the D.Sc. in Engineering Manufacturing Systems, from Lawrence Technological University, graduating in May 2010. Dr. Cook Ùs research interests lie in the field of acoustic inspection methods. She is interested in inspiring students to consider engineering careers by involving them in relevant and contextual discussion of applications and hopes to help them achieve a high level of technical capability. She will bring many years of industry experience in the automotive area to her classroom.
