Biography

Dr. Nesreen Alsbou earned her bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and her master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from Kansas State University. She earned her doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Oklahoma in 2012. Dr. Alsbou came to Penn State Behrend in August 2012. She is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), and IEEE Computer Society.

Dr. Alsbou is interested in teaching classes in wireless communication, digital design, computer architecture, digital logic, state machine design, and VLSI. During her Ph.D. study she was a teaching assistant for the following classes:

Research

Dr. Alsbou latest research is in the area of wireless communications, particularly in MAC protocol where she developed a new MAC protocol called PR-ALOHA (R-ALOHA with Priority) to satisfy delay requirements for safety/emergency messages for inter vehicle communications. Furthermore, her research interest includes Intelligent Transportation Systems, wireless communications, Images and Digital Signal Processing, Logic Design, VHDL Design, VLSI Chip Design and Majority based Nano Circuits Design.
