Biography

Mr. Roger Kuntz is an instructor of engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. He received the B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1974 from The Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Kuntz is presently a member of the Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society for Engineering Education ASEE , and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers IEEE . He holds the ASE Refrigerant, Recovery & Recycling Certification, and a Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License. Mr. Kuntz is a registered professional engineering in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a Penn State Alumni Association member.

Prior to teaching at Penn State Behrend, Mr. Kuntz worked at General Electrical Corporation.

As chair of the PLC Subcommittee of the EET Industrial Advisory Committee, in concert with Dr. Rob Weissbach, received 6 each Allen Bradley Micro LOGIX 1000 Programmable Logic Controller from the Allen Bradley Company, for use in EETBD 275 and EETBD 497I (retail value approximately $3,000), 1997.

Computer Software for laboratory teaching purposes, DSP Development Corporation Grant value $3,159.00, DADISP 4.0, one full commercial version and 16 student Editions, 1995.

Intel Corporation Grant, for computer hardware for laboratory teaching purposes, value $200.00. One 486 DX2-66 Module for teaching purposes, 1995.

Obtained 25 various GE and Semicron power semi conductors for use in the Power Semiconductor course. Approximate value $1,250.00, 1996.

Use of optic fibers to transfer audio information. The information was used to construct circuits and optic cables for students to use in lab course. 1995

Tested PLC and motors lab computers and loaded new software to them for use in classes for Fall 2005 semester.

Consulted with MET students (working on plastics press research) concerning noise pickup by strain gauge transducers. My analysis: cause is improper writing practice, and unsuppressed voltage transients. Solution: Use twisted and shielded wire, and follow proper grounding procedures, 2002.

Donated A.C. Motor, and consulted on design of control circuits for Behrend Observatory door opener project being done by MET students, 2001.

Consulting on Rotomold machine in Zurn Building for Dave Loker and Rotomold Design team, 1998 and Spring 1999.
