Facilities

The Sam and Irene Black School of Business is co-located with the college’s School of Engineering in the Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center. Penn State Behrend was one of the first educational institutions in the country to bring its schools of business and engineering together under a single roof to create multidisciplinary learning experiences for students. The 160,000-square-foot facility, the newest academic building on campus, features technologically equipped classrooms, advanced computer labs, a behavioral research lab, and a financial services lab designed to simulate a real trading floor with up to-the-minute market and investment news displayed on large monitors and a stock price ticker.

Black Conf Ctr 2

Black Conference Center

The tiered design of the Samuel P. “Pat” Black III Conference Center in the REDC gives those seated in the hall unobstructed views of speakers and visuals. The 201-seat hall features power outlets at each chair, wireless connectivity, amplified sound, and projectors that can simultaneously broadcast three different images on a screen spanning the front of the room.

Financial Lab

Financial Services Lab (Trading Room)

The Financial Services Trading Room simulates a real trading floor, giving students access to up-to-the-minute market and investment news displayed on large LCD monitors and a stock price ticker. Here, students use real-time financial information and industry standard software to gain experience in stock trading, financial analysis, and portfolio management.

Behavioral Lab

Behavioral Research Lab

One-way observation mirrors and video recordings of what happens behind them are excellent tools for helping students improve speaking, negotiating, and data-gathering skills. Students in the Sam and Irene Black School of Business have access to all that and more in the state-of-the-art J.G. Raimy Behavioral Sciences Interactive Laboratory, a perfect setting for simulating dynamic business situations such as focus groups, sales presentations, and interviews.
