Biography

George Dudas is an instructor in Computer Science and Software Engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. He began his career at Penn State Behrend in August of 1979.

Mr. Dudas received the B.S. in Computer Science from Penn State University in 1974 with an emphasis in Statistics and an M.B.A. from Gannon University in 1985 with an emphasis in Operations Research.

His research/scholarship is continuing in the following areas: investigating techniques of active learning, creating improved methods of pedagogy, building hybrid and/or on-line course, and building a self-contained network environment for our data communication courses.

North East Agricultural Extension, Grape Growers. Writing a complete computer system to manage pesticide applications, and a database subsystem to manage information on chemicals, pests, beneficials, and other miscellaneous information. The information is used by a mathematical model subsystem to build constraints and provide the grower with an optimum spray application, $2,500, 1985.

Biography

Mr. Burchard is Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and Software Engineering at Penn State Behrend. He received his B. A in Mathematics from Allegheny College in 1970, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and shared the Doan Prize in Mathematics. He received the M.A in Mathematics 1973 and the M. S. in Computer Science 1983 from the Pennsylvania State University, and was a graduate teaching assistant in those departments while pursuing his degrees. From 1973 to 1981, he taught secondary mathematics in the Iroquois and Crawford Central school systems. He has been on the Computer Science faculty at Penn state since 1983, at University Park from 1983 to 1985, and here at Behrend since 1985.

Mr. Burchard is a Sun Certified Java Programmer and a Sun Certified Web Developer and is a member of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education. For several years, he has served as the coach of the Behrend ACM-ICPC Programming Competition team which competes annually at the ACM-ICPC East Central NA Regional Contest. He incorporates into his teaching the types of problems posed by the ACM-ICPC at its many worldwide regional contests.

New Engineering Faculty

Greg Dillon, associate director for research and technology transfer and associate professor of engineering, received the Ph.D. in materials engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland. Dr. Dillon worked most recently at the Applied Research Lab at Pennsylvania State, University Park, where he had been deputy division head of the Composite Materials Division since 2000. Prior to that, he worked at Northrop Grumman, Lawrie Technology, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
