The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team is ranked No. 24 in the nation and made up mostly of freshmen. Given that, the team’s future seems very bright.
But head coach Dave Niland is not taking the recent success for granted. He’s focused on the present. A big reason for that, both literally and figuratively, is Zane Hackett.
ME BD students are required to take four 3-credit courses and one 1-credit lab (13 credits) of technical electives. The courses must be selected from one of the following two thematic areas:

Adam Winterbottom sat detached from his surroundings, blankly staring ahead at the wall in the Game Development Lab of the Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center.
“Uh, maybe you should go get some sleep,” said Peter Kalmar, a senior computer science major and one of Winterbottom’s partners for Global Game Jam 2016.
Penn State Behrend’s Innovation Commons – an idea laboratory, maker space, technology playground, legal office, marketing agency and entrepreneurs’ gathering spot rolled under one roof – has opened to support small businesses and start-ups.
We offer students the opportunity to conduct research for industry sponsors, work with award-winning faculty, and be recruited by companies around the world.
Our students gain valuable experience to position them well for employment opportunities after graduation while developing relationships with industry and references at a renowned institution.
Students work part-time on a variety of research projects. The hourly rate is based on experience and semester standing, typically $10.00-$14.00 per hour.
Students, parents, philanthropists and members of the Penn State Behrend community convened upon the college’s Junker Center on Oct. 24 for a celebration of academic excellence and generosity.

Dr. Xinwei Niu is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Penn State Behrend. He joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program in fall 2015.
