spring 2014Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will award over 600 degrees at its spring commencement on Friday, May 8.

The ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Erie Insurance Arena, 809 French St. It is open to the public and no tickets are needed to attend. Detailed information for candidates and their guests can be found here.

College to Lead Regional Innovation Collaborative

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will lead a three-year, $1.5 million initiative to spur business innovation and support entrepreneurs across the Erie region. The effort will boost small businesses and start-ups by creating a network of educational, industry and community institutions that are committed to improving the region’s economy.

Erie Engineering Firm to Expand After Move to Knowledge Park

Process and Data Automation, an Erie-based engineering and data-services firm, will relocate to Penn State Behrend’s Knowledge Park this spring. The company, which provides full-service industrial control systems for the food and beverage, metals, pet food and wastewater industries, withdrew a bid to purchase the vacant Ridgefield Elementary School in November.

Plastics Engineering Technology Student Produces a Winning Video

Stephen Levy, a senior plastics engineering technology major, produced a video that finished third in a student video contest sponsored by the Society of the Plastics Industry.“There's a great future in plastics.” It’s an iconic line from the 1967 classic film "The Graduate."

But for Stephen Levy, it's more than just a line in a movie. It’s a primary reason the Pittsburgh native chose to enroll at Penn State Behrend.

'Open Lab' Brings New Partners to Knowledge Park

Sometimes 1 mile can be 1 mile too far.

It was only 1 mile that separated Cybersonics Inc. from Penn State Behrend in 2009, but according to Jeff Vaitekunas, vice president of research and development at Cybersonics, being located across the highway from the University just wasn’t cutting it.

“I looked across that street, and when I saw those buildings I knew there was a great opportunity,” he said.
