Instructors from the ExpERIEnce Children’s Museum will teach new classes in dance, art, history and Lego architecture at this year’s College for Kids, the summer youth program at Penn State Behrend.
The museum partnership expands the College for Kids program, which offers all the summer-camp standards – archery, guitar, watercolors, clay sculpture – and unique classes in kite design, duct-tape fashion, underwater robotics and videogame development.
The half-day classes begin June 17. Registration began May 15 at www.behrend.psu.edu/kids.
This is the 20th year of College for Kids. More than 1,100 children between the ages of 6 and 16 are expected to enroll.
Several of the program’s most popular courses will be offered again, including Storm Chasing 101, with WJET meteorologist Tom Atkins; Jungle Adventures, which includes a trip to the Erie Zoo; and Presque Isle Field Studies, a full-day program that involves hiking, biking, kayaking and fishing at Presque Isle State Park.
The one-week sessions begin June 17 and continue through Aug. 2. Before- and after-class care is available, if needed.
