September 15: Verizon Wireless CEO on Campus. You Can Hear Him Now!
Daniel S. Mead, president and CEO of Verizon Wireless, will speak on campus on Thursday, September 15. A Warren native, Mead is a member of the college’s Council of Fellows and a recipient of the Penn State Behrend Alumni Fellow and Penn State Distinguished Alumni awards.

Mead will discuss recent Verizon strategic initiatives beginning at noon in the Samuel P. “Pat” Black III Conference Center on the lower level of the Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center. His presentation is free and open to the public, and parking will be available in the deck located behind Burke Center, off of Technology Drive.
Before assuming his current position last year, Mead was Verizon Wireless’ executive vice president and COO, with responsibility for nationwide operations and performance across all customer segments. Previous to that, he was president of Verizon Telecom, an organization with more than 70,000 employees delivering telephone, Internet, and entertainment services to residential and business customers in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
Mead holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and an M.B.A. from Penn State. He began his telecommunications career in 1978 with GTE in Warren.
