Location:  Glenhill Farmhouse

Hours:  8:00am. - 5:00pm., Monday through Friday.  Night, weekend and holiday service is provided by Police & Safety Services and the Call Center.

 

On-campus and Off-Campus Calls

When you are on campus, dial just the extension number (4 digits) to get an on-campus office, lab, or student residence. There are Behrend faculty/staff directories available in all offices.

When you are on campus, dial 9 before your phone number, to get an off campus number.

When giving a number out, or calling a number from off-campus or cell phone, you must dial the seven-digit number.

 

Long Distance  and International Calls

You must use a calling card to place a long distance call. Dial 9-before your calling card numbers, then your can dial the phone number you are trying to reach.

To place an operator assisted collect call, dial 9-0.

To make an international call, dial 9-before your calling card numbers, then dial 011-Country Code, City Code, and then the Phone Number. For information about international rates and instructions, call 9-1-800-874-4000.

 

Resident Student Phones

The Housing & Food Services office assigns phone numbers to all students. Student telephone numbers begin with a 217 exchange.

 

Voice Mail Services

This service is no longer available for students.

 

Identify Phone Problems

NO DIAL TONE

  • Check the line cord (cord from the telephone to the wall jack) and make sure it is plugged in and not loose. Make sure the jack you are using is active if you have moved your telephone.
  • Check your wall jack. Make sure the jack has not been damaged.
  • Check your receiver cord (the curly cord that connects to the receiver and telephone); make sure it is not loose.
  • Try another telephone, make sure it is the same telephone style you have.

 

STATIC/BREAKING UP OF YOUR CONVERSATION

  • Check the line cord (cord from the telephone to the wall jack) and make sure it is plugged in and not loose.
  • Check your receiver cord (the curly cord that connects to the receiver and telephone); while talking shake the cord to see if you notice an increase or decrease in static.
  • Try another telephone, make sure it is the same telephone style you have.

 

CAN CALL OUT BUT PHONE DOESN'T RING IN

  • Check the line cord (cord from the telephone to the wall jack) and make sure it is plugged in and not loose.
  • Check the ringer on your phone to make sure it is turned up.
  • Check your jack to make sure your jack is not damaged.

 

PHONE ONLY RINGS ONCE

  • Send all calls feature has been activated.
  • Deactivate by pressing #33.

 

WHEN I DIAL A LONG DISTANCE NUMBER I GET A "TONE"

  • No long distance numbers can be dialed from your phone, unless they are toll-free numbers, or you are using a calling card.

 

WHEN I DIAL LONG DISTANCE I GET A MESSAGE

  • The telephone you are using does not have long distance service connected.

 

Report Phone Problems

If you have checked all the steps in your problem area, then notify the resident assistant or call the system administrator at 6000.

If you are having a phone problem, please complete the on-line Telephone Trouble Report form. We will then have all the necessary information to correct your trouble in a timely manner.
