The next generation of wireless network connectivity is now available at Behrend. The Penn State Wireless 2.0 service incorporates recent 802.1X wireless authentication and encryption methods that are aimed at enabling an improved level of security and improved performance.
Wireless 2.0 network hotspots include all academic buildings (Burke, Kockel/Lilley, Nick, Hammermill, Junker, etc.) as well as the Reed Building and the Metzgar Center. When you use the Wireless 2.0 service in these locations, you will no longer need to download a VPN client or relaunch a VPN session when moving from building to building. Just open your laptop and you'll see the psu network.
To get connected to the Penn State Wireless 2.0 service, you'll need your Penn State Access Account and a laptop with an 802.1X compatible wireless network card. Supported platforms include: Windows, Mac, Unix/Linux, Apple iPhone/iPod touch/iPad, and Android phones. Instructions and software downloads are available from: https://www.work.psu.edu/access/dot1x/prod/.
