Balancing responsibilities at work and home can be challenging enough, which is why getting a degree can be very difficult for adults. But Penn State Behrend now offers accelerated courses in a format that makes it possible for adults to get a degree without sacrificing valuable time at their job or with their family. The college also offers academic support services like tutoring and academic advising, and special services for adult students like childcare facilities.
Accelerated Courses through the Video Learning Network: VLN courses meet once a week on nights or weekends, and the remaining coursework can be completed online. And most courses in the VLN are accelerated and taught over a 7-week period, allowing adults to quickly earn degrees and certificates.
Center for Adult Students: Penn State Behrend has an office dedicated to serving the needs of our adult students, whether it's with scheduling, financial aid, or support services.
Summer Reading Skills Program: There is perhaps no activity that provides more lifelong, tangible benefits than reading. Regardless of age, reading remains an activity that everyone can enjoy. In collaboration with the Institute for Reading Development, Penn State Continuing Education has offered Summer Reading Programs for Children and Adults since 2008.
