New Student Orientation Procedures

Step 1: Complete Your Educational Planning Survey

Summer/Fall 2014 Admits: Click on the "Start your survey!" link to begin your survey. The Educational Planning Survey must be completed before you complete your ALEKS Math Assessment.

Spring 2015 Admits: You will receive additional information about completing your Educational Planning Survey in early in the fall.

Step 2: Take Your ALEKS Math Assessment

Completing the ALEKS Math Assessment is required of all entering first-year students regardless of AP, IB, dual enrollment, and CLEP credits. It is important because all majors at the University require courses in quantification. You may not take certain courses in mathematics, statistics or chemistry without demonstrating readiness.

Summer/Fall 2014 Admits: Additional information about the ALEKS Math Assessment, including a link to the assessment, is available HERE.

If you are admitted for Spring 2015, you will not be able to take your ALEKS Math Assessment until fall 2014.

Step 3: Attend New Student Orientation

Once you complete the Educational Planning Survey and your online math assessment, you will receive information about your New Student Orientation program.

Summer/Fall 2014 Admits: You will receive this information beginning in April.

Spring 2015 Admits: You will receive this information beginning in the fall.

PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR DATE WITH GREAT CARE. Much time and preparation is required in order to match each student to an adviser for an individualized advising session associated with their chosen interest area. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Dates fill up very quickly. We suggest making your final date selection only after checking all family calendars. Date changes are limited to emergency situations only. If you are unable to attend the date that you have reserved, individual advising and scheduling sessions will be available during Open Registration on August 22, 2014
